Metro Communications was founded in 1980 in Lafayette, LA by Joseph (Joe) W. Swain, Jr.
Joe began his Muzak sales career in 1973 in the Mobile, AL market. After seven years in local sales and after being promoted to Vice President of Sales for the local Muzak franchise, Joe decided it was time to fulfill the longtime dream of owning his own Muzak franchise. Being the salesman he is, Joe convinced the owner of Acadiana Music, Mr. George Chruochet, to owner-finance the buyout between himself and Acadiana Music. The deal and terms were agreed upon and from that date, the company known as Metro Communications, Inc. has held to the core mission and promise that Joe envisioned over 30 years ago: To develop and provide a high level of customer satisfaction through the company’s service products, system designs and customer service.
Over the years, Metro Communications has grown it’s territory through acquisitions of other Muzak franchises as well as local and national sales.
In January 2000, Joshua Swain began his sales career with Metro Communications, by sharing the same passion and drive that led his father Joe to establish and grow the company for the previous 20 years and into the present. Today, as a 2nd generation family-owned company, Joe and Josh continue to develop and maintain partnerships with customers with the same guiding principles and passion.
In December 2017, Josh was promoted to President and CEO of Metro Communications. Building on the foundation that his father started, Josh’s passion and drive are evident to his customers and employees. Joe still continues to be involved with the company’s day to day serving as Vice President.
